A CHRISTMAS GREETING FROM THE RUSSO'S

Clara

What a joy to own or have access to a computer. By virtue of the fact that you are reading this newsletter on a computer many miles away, I will assume that you agree with that sentiment.

Scanning into my computer and repairing thousands of old slides has been an 'on again, off again' project of mine. I've made pretty good progress this year. Who knew when they were taken years ago that those slides would not survive in their pristine conditions? Hopefully, by digital means, we may have them back again. Now, when I take pictures, they're usually digital to begin with.

Another of my major interests is quilting.  It is so satisfying to see my quilts and wall hangings loved and appreciated by my children and grandchildren. This spring at the quilt show sponsored by the local quilt guild, I won first place in the wearables catagory with a jacket I made. This year finally saw the completion of my Millennium Quilt.

Butch always said I should have been a nun, and I got my chance this summer in the Kingwood College Opera Workshop.   I played the role of Sister Constance in Dialogues of the Carmelites by Poulenc.

Kingwood Chorale consists of a group of talented singers who perform two or three times a year with professional orchestra under the direction of a college professor of music. With them this year, I had the honor of singing the soprano solo in the Vivaldi Gloria and one of the soprano solos in Handel's Messiah.

I still cantor at St Martha's Catholic Church in Kingwood. Also at St Martha's, I recently joined the Quilt Ministry where we make quilts for those who are ill and in special need of prayer.

The house which Butch and I built three years ago continues to be a source of great happiness.   I've recently begun faux painting the walls in the kitchen.

To maintain these beautiful bodies   For exercise, Butch and I walk or ride bikes on the many miles of 'green belt' trails here in Kingwood.   I also go to yoga and strength building classes at the gym.

People in Kingwood are so special.   I just want to say how much I appreciate the friends I've made especially in the quilting and singing groups to which I belong.
